Physical Computing Week 7

This week’s lab helped me figure out how to parse multiple serial values from Arduino to Processing by splitting them up with punctuation. It’s proving real helpful to finish the Processing and Arduino sketches for my group’s media controller project.

Our Arduino program can now send legible strings of data to our Processing sketch. We split them up between every tab (“\t”) and convert them into floats when necessary. Anh is working on embedding our temperature sensors into a pair of chopsticks, so I used a potentiometer as substitute. When the pot is turned up, the digital mercury in our processing sketch’s thermometer goes up as well. And we can now send data from processing to Arduino that can change the fan’s speed and the sensor’s threshold.

I can’t wait to test this baby out for real. Mostly because I’m hungry right now. Until later.
